Default Only firing on one cylinder

Hi,

I just put in a rebuilt engine in my 96 impreza. I have swapped the coil pack to coil on plugs. I use apexi power FC.

The car fires only on cylinder 4.

I have swapped with other coil packs and stil no luck. It only sparks on cylinder nr 4.

I have tried with the Oem ecu without luck.

Plugs are also new.

Any ideas?

Have you used a different crank sensor or crank wheel?

No, I haven't tried a different crank sensor. Would that make a difference?

So after the build your orignal wheel and sensor was put back on? If yes then shouldnt be a problem. If no then there are diffetent trigger wheels and sensors depending in car year.

It will if it had the wrong trigger wheel/sensor combo or both and the ecu is getting the wrong signal

Have you re used all your original parts as turbotits has said?

Do a search on here, you wouldn't be the first to have similar issues from what he has told you, there are varying parts between years, so If you have a mixture of them, then more than likely that is your problem, and as said the ecu could still fire on certain cylinders if it gets a signal to fire, albeit may be the wrong one

I can not say if all the OEM parts was reused, as I'm not the one who is putting the car back together.

But I can not find a single thread on the internet or SCN regarding a impreza that is only firing on one cylinder.

Not true - the cam pulleys and pick-up triggers changed on the Newage models.
Who built the engine as have seen several 'rebuilds' with the camshafts fitted in the wrong position ( L/H swapped with R/H ) and they wont run.

Taken from my other thread:

It's sorted now. The mechanic had put the wrong wires at the wrong coil...
The car has been soldered and wired too many times.. So the color of the electric wires arE fu....

So not really helpful for others...
