Count yourself lucky, I get 10 seconds with mine - standard alarm that came with the car.

Mine use to be the same, but after I sent my car in to have the rust spot removed from the rear wheel arch it has never worked again. A bit annoyed, but will either have to check it out myself or take it in. Plus I would like to remove the old Nokia hands-free kit that is in the car under the dash on the passenger side.

So, rust isn't always bad for the car...?

You could say that. I'd rather keep the rust and a working alarm.
