Question Will vacuum leak affect fueling?

At the last MOT my 2.5 wrx Hawkeye was right on the limits of emmisions.

Over the past couple hundred miles on acceleration I have started to notice a bit of a stutter /Mis fire.

Searching the forums and Internet I started to narrow this down to the symptoms of a failing front Lambda sensor.

Saturday night whilst just phaffing and generally looking and listening to the engine ( as you do) I could hear a hissing from around the take off point the previous owner had had the boost gauge plumbed in. I whipped of the pipe and replace it and the hissing stopped.

Yesterday I ran to Wales and back... 350 mile round trip, and the stutter was gone.

So will this have helped with the emissions too?

A lot cheaper than a lambda sensor

At the same time I did notice oil in the breather pipes , not vast amounts but enough to notice, is there a benefit to a catch can?.

Always great full for you views and comments.

( Tubby it's not the head gasket ......... Yet)

Cheers
Paul
