You need a cat or a friendly mot.

i told the mot bloke it was a pre 95 import engine. and he said even if he did a non cat test it would still fail as the co's are so high. is there another way th bring them down. if i was to fit a cat my exhaust would need modifying as there are no flanges for a cat to bolt onto.

Either need to swap the whole system from a similar aged car, I know all classics will fit the same but you need to be careful some of the sensors are different plug shapes. Some have a pre cat lamba others have one after or both. I had this issue when I brought an exhaust to fit my decatted scooby. Tho I the end i went and had a quiet word with a few places and found somewhere quiet I could get an test without emissions, Vosa are keen on garage checks, mot may loose thier liceance if caught.

Not to sound silly but have you checked your plugs and leads working correctly? In general it's a healthy engine? Maf working currently?

it has no cat on the car, cleaning the maf etc will have zero effect on a catless cars ability to pass the mot test.

You only have a non cat test if the car/engine is pre 1st August 1992.

Your afr with that lambda is about 11.5 which is about right for a mapped impreza which is modded. but it will never pass an mot even with a cat fitted. To get a proper pass you would need the fuel and air system back to standard and then fit a cat. No point doing this. Find another mot garage.

Have you had it remapped?

jason to be honest am not sure if its been mapped, all i know is its a gc8d model with yellow 440 injectors, 1S ecu, orange label maf, cone filter, front mount intercooler, blitz dump valve, and straight through pipe.
i did have a look at the ecu and there was no mappers label on it, i think i really need to get it on the rollers.
