can i use a uk engine in a jdm?

Default can i use a uk engine in a jdm?

hello im after some advice i have a 94 jdm impreza wrx and im going to rebuild the engine i have in there but im looking for a good running lump to put in to keep it on the road, can i use any of the uk engines or do i have to get another import lump?

Uk engine will fit but the wiring is different. Different ecu, sensors are different ie Lamba . if you wanted to swap the whole lot you can. Uk engines for classic come I'm 3 forms. Phase 1, 1.5 and 2. Is your engine broken? Can't you buy a spare engine and build that, rather than removing yours, fitting a spare. Then removing and fitting your old one back again?

thanks for your reply yeah mine has a head gasket gone but want to do a forged rebuild thats why i wanted another so i can work on mine in my spare time i dont mind swapping it all over ive been offered a uk99 bare engine but ive heard the heads are different and manifolds wont fit but they were not 100% sure.
