Default Slipping Clutch

My clutch on a 2005 WRX has just started to slip slightly in 3rd/4th so looking to get it replaced. Do I need to replace the flywheel at the same time (or have it skimmed)?

Also, what's the best option to go for? My car is standard apart from a decat/remap so probably somewhere around the 260-280bhp mark and I won't be going any higher so doesn't need to cope with big power. I've seen that Exedy do Blue and Pink box variations with the Pink being classed as uprated, is this a better buy? Or are there any better alternatives?

Cheers
Mark

Flywheel will want skimming or you can invest in a slightly lighter one,
The Exedy Pink is a very popular clutch but make sure where you buy from are genuine as there are copies about,
Any of the popular tuners should be able to help, API,Lateral etc if you need parts,
Up your way I used to just suggest Harvey but not sure what the set up is now with his old place so I cant really help with fitters.

Yours is probably a car with a 'press type ' clutch rather than the STi type ' Pull clutch ' Which means, if you are not technically minded, that they operate differently and use a different flywheel. Options for uprated WRX Press type clutches are limited. Upgrading to STi type is not possible unless you change the gearbox casing.

We can help with an uprated kit but there won't be too much choice out in the market.

Thought it was best to stick with the stock clutch on a 5 speed to protect the gearbox?

I understand David
I had to put a new clutch in my old 05STI at approx 45K, garage that supplied and fitted it said the flywheel was ok.

More recently, Subaru changed the clutch in my hatch STI(warranty) at approx 20K
They didn't do anything to the flywheel.

For the sake of £50 odd, it's always worth giving the flywheel a skim on a clutch imho.

Limited clutch options on 2005 onwards, but we can sort from stock if needed.
