Default help on lag td05

As titled would like some advice. Ive had this problem for a while now, ive even changed headers, turbo and still got same issue, had this problem even on top mount with standard headers, Im on td05 16g and I dont get 1bar of boost til 4k rpm and full boost around 4-500rpm later. JGM was on the lappy doing his thing but had no luck, we checked the actuator and adjusted it but still no luck, intake pipe has a split by turbo which simon said that could be the issue but would like to know if anyone else has had this problem and shed some light on what it could be, there are no headers leaks or air leaks, ive even changed my turbo, don't mind chaning little things to see what the issue is before I change the turbo AGAIN any advice would be appreciated thankyou

Tried a Harvey up-pipe?

Now available from AS Performance, designed to allow spool much earlier.

With ported headers, or tubular if you are running enough bhp and have the 2.5, the Harvey up-pipe works a treat. Mine spools incredibly early, 2.5, tubular headers, Harvey up-pipe and HS TD05 20g.

What FMIC or you still running TMIC?

Something still not adding me up,just due 16G spool nicely like on WRX or STi,in which gear you are testing the spool?

On 5speed you should be testing in 3rd gear,on 6speed in 4th you should be testing spool

I've got a similar problem. Fmic, ported an wrapped headers, AS performance trick up pipe

Reaching 1 bar around 3500rpm, full boost - 1.3 bar at just over 4k

Feels abit lazy out of bends. BUT when she does come chat

I've heard this is normal characteristics for a TD05?

TD04 for the real world win, the only other thing that gets close is a VF34 if your after more top end power, but they are like rocking horse poo these days, and the SC Billet's are too much money for my liking.

You get it mapped for it? Ported or tubular headers?

Best to have it mapped to get the best out of it. Either fit, or have your own ported headers.

The two go together. It's all about gas-flow.

I would say so. Anything that slows the gases down is going to cause lag, isn't it?

If split intake can cause lag,not sure, but usually can cause some other bits such as can run lean and you will be down on the power

Do you have in your area any RR,if yes I would go on the Dyno run

Something is wrong. Is it a genuine td05. I run one although an 18g version. 1 bar below 3k and 1.5 by 3200rpm.

It does sound as if it's either not been mapped properly, or it's not a genuine TD05.

Hang on...just reading back...tubular headers????

the late, great Harvey Smith told me NOT to go tubular until around 400bhp and with a BIG turbo.

Maybe that's your problem? Who advised tubular headers, and which ones do you have?
harvey told me ported Scoob headers up to 400. Around 400 there is a choice, over 400, tubular. And he did mention spool.

If you read back I had the same prob on normal headers, also JGM said that he would go for tubulars as u get more midrange torque and they are gt spec headers

Opposite advice to Harvey........and mine runs great with VERY low down spool.

Your car, your choice.

So get the split repaired etc and go from there.

There HAS to be a reason why yours won't spool and mine does.
