Default Over revving between gears

Hi guys, just after a bit of advice as to whether this is a known issue.

It seems like when I'm changing gear the revs are rising between gear changes (100-200rpm). If I do a smooth granny change then all seems OK but if I do a dip clutch/back off throttle simultaneously its almost as if the throttle isn't backing off quick enough.

I've tried driving along then lifting off the throttle and it does seem I'm getting some from of over run before the car slows.

None of my previous Imprezas or other cars have done this so I pretty sure its not my driving style.

Cheers

Has your car been mapped?
Could have not been mapped out when mapped, speak with your mapper to map it out.

I don't believe it has been, has an aftermarket exhaust but all cats still in place and original style filter. One of the first things I did when I got the car was check the ECU and its untouched. Its got a very comprehensive history and no mention of a remap.

I reckon it has been run on lower grade fuel by at least the previous owner and by me for a couple of tanks until I was quite rightly corrected. but the last 2 tanks its seen V Power Nitro and only this going forward

Cheers

Might be a early sign of problems with the idle control valve. Mine started doing the same and eventually started rough running and tickover. Cleaned the valve and all sorted.
Not saying it's definitely that but just a possible.

Have a similar thing! Was starting to go crazy, lost all faith in my clutch control abilities. Glad I'm not the only one. Had the car 3 months now and nothing has gone wrong really, so I'm not THAT worried.. just annoying. Be interested to see what you find.

It is - I think - something the standard ecu does on a newage. I discovered it when I went from a classic to newage back in 2001. But a remap will sort it
