P1 Owner wants more power! Please help!
#1
I have had my P1 for about 6 months and so far have fitted a decat downpipe, HKS exhaust, ITG panel filter and a brake upgrade.
I am waiting for Powerstation to get back to me with some advice on how I can improve the handling but I also want more power (both bhp and torque) without going too over the top. I reckon about 320-330 bhp and a hefty increase in torque wouls satisfy my needs for the time being
I regularly read the board and have spoken to a few different people about what to do next but seem to be getting more and more confused about the best next step as the options seem endless.
I would be very grateful if some of you highly knowledgable people could give me some straightforward advice as to the best way to go forward with an idea of the cost and benefit of each step. Also what other bits and pieces would I be sensible to add, e.g. Fuel cut defender, How important is this?
Many thanks in advance for your much needed advice.

My my young man, surely you are not that desperate ? I can give you some ideas on modifications for the B series Austin Morris engine but not a sophisticated tractor engine like that. Try phoning Massey Ferguson or John Deere. All the best....Blutes

For a good 330bhp plus
the most common - but not exclusive route at present is:
Link ECU
Turbo - TT MD254 is lovely on an STi - early spin up and good power
Uprated Intercooler - TM or FM
Uprated fuel pump
Possibly uprated injectors - you have 440s as standard - over 320 you will need 550s - don't go for 740s they are overkill (I speak from experience here )
Induction kit
Big exhuast - Scoobysport 3in d/p plus HKS Hiper is a very popular choice on the clutch of Scoobs getting 340bhp plus at PE
Overall a stack of cash - but hey - when you have driven a car that makes a P1 feel pedestrian you will feel it is worth it
Other alternatives include other 'big' turbos, ECUs eg Ecutek, Motel, Pectel etc, other exhausts and d/ps - BPM also very highly recommended
The challenge is money and time - do you want to do all this.
Also if you go on track - water injection will be a big improvement to track times. Against the same standard ECU car on road and track - my car is much quicker on track as the standard ECU will be retarding like crazy due to the high temps. WI requires a system e.g. Aquamist, tanks, scavenger pumps, plumbing.
Finally - if you simply want to be quicker on track - dump the standard brakes and fit APs/Alcons - you will get 3-7secs a lap at somewhere like Donington - depending on how aggressively you drive.

Cheers for the comments guys, some have been more useful than others, I have booked a test drive at Massey Ferguson later this morning
Trout thanks very much for the advice, I think I had better go and see the bank manager , and by the way I have driven a car that makes the P1 feel pedestrian which is why I want to make mine faster
Cheers
