Question

I have had my P1 for about 6 months and so far have fitted a decat downpipe, HKS exhaust, ITG panel filter and a brake upgrade.

I am waiting for Powerstation to get back to me with some advice on how I can improve the handling but I also want more power (both bhp and torque) without going too over the top. I reckon about 320-330 bhp and a hefty increase in torque wouls satisfy my needs for the time being

I regularly read the board and have spoken to a few different people about what to do next but seem to be getting more and more confused about the best next step as the options seem endless.

I would be very grateful if some of you highly knowledgable people could give me some straightforward advice as to the best way to go forward with an idea of the cost and benefit of each step. Also what other bits and pieces would I be sensible to add, e.g. Fuel cut defender, How important is this?

Many thanks in advance for your much needed advice.

Si

Si I'll start by saying I am by no means technically minded. An obvious step would be a fully mappable ECU eg Link/Motec/GEMS.I only have experience of the Link which I had on my STi4(now sold). Its a shame as I only live 10 minutes from you so you could have had a look. The Link will allow full mapping(ie fuel/ignition timing/boost) to take into account your exhaust mods.It will also make sure your car is not detonating due to leaning out of your fuel mixture due to your mods so far.The Link is cheaper than GEMS and Motec but more expensive than Unichip/Fuel and boost computers. If you d'ont mind me saying,if you have a P1 you've got a few quid ,protect your investment and forget piggyback units. My new STi7 is booked for a Link(when it arrives) so you can see I'm impressed with it.Also if you are still under warranty it unplugs in 10 minutes.
