Hi all I'm really in need of help now I bought this pipe for my 2003 wrx it was advertised as centre section decat pipe but it has me really confused now looking at diagrams of the wrx exhaust it seems to me to be the pipe that replaces the resonator just behind the exhaust not the decat just after the downpipe could someone please advise n this as I'm none the wiser after looking at diagram here's a pic above

That's a deresonated centre section, newages have 2 centre pipes, this one and the 3rd cat pipe which goes between this and the downpipe.

 

Hi thanks all I understand now so they advertised it wrong then it's not a decat pipe ? There must be people around that knows less than me about exhaust systems been looking for the pipe I need to after down-pipe could anyone send me link for the type of pipe needed as I don't want to buy another. Wrong pipe I would appreciate it cheers

 

You need one of these, thats the 2.5" but you can also get them in 3" depending what size your centre pipe is. And yes, a lot of sellers advertise that centre pipe as a decat pipe but it actually only has a resonator in it, not a cat.

Cheers matty big help that mate saves me a lot of headaches..... is it still better to fit the pipe I got plus decat pipe you showed me ?

 

It's up to you mate, I fitted a decat up pipe, prodrive down pipe, hayward and Scott decat pipe (as above), hayward and Scott deresonated centre pipe (like your pic) and a blitz nur spec s back box. Sounds like this

 

Sounds great mate I'm looking for that sort of sound at the moment my wrx had a prodrive ppp pack fitted by subaru I think it has prodrive downpipe so I'm going to get the decat pipe you showed me and fit the both and see what sound I get from that its to quiet for my liking at the moment I'm looking for the nice deep subaru burble fingers crossed I get it

 

Hang on mate! If yours has the ppp fitted I'm pretty sure the prodrive pack includes a 3rd decat pipe, have a look underneath. Unless that was just the sti?

 

I have looked. Underneath for what I can see it looks like there's a cat coming off just after the down pipe give me a bit and ill get some photos on of the underneath to see what you think

Yes thought so mate I think it's the wrx sti ppp pack this is removed on .....just ordered the decat pipe u showed me thanks for the help mate been a big help saved me a lot of head work roll on the weekend to get it sorted if anyone has any tips about changing these pipes I would be. Gratefull. Ill get some sounds of finished car on here when sorted
