More Power
#1
What is the best way to go about getting more power from a MY94 impreza.Would i be better to go for a re-chip or fit a fuel cut lifter and a dawes device.Any advice would be great.Cheers

All you needs to do is remove the cats with a scooby sport, air induction kit and dawes valve set to 13psi then you should be getting 272 bhp and 235 lbs/ft as recorded today at PowerStation..
DeanF
Just edited the Psi as Mike_s14 cant type

Cheers Dean, Both cats are already removed.Have also fitted induction kit and dump valve.Tried to increase the boost to 14psi but i think it is overboosting this is why i was asking about the fuel cut lifter. Thanks Craig.

Billy boy,
Get the dawes fitted & a fuel cut defenser, set the boost around 16 Psi thats my next plan, You might want to use a good quality Octane booster & shell optimax Etc. Plus it may be wise to have the cxar checked for detonation, Knocking at that psijust to save your pistons Etc.

Dawes FAQ is below with loads of nauseatingly long threads mainly started by me. In there I put a link to a thread about Dawes on imports with reasons why IMHO it should not be done unless you really know what you are doing and can monitor lots of things. Yes I do sell ECU remaps in Fife, but I cannot do your model year so I am not biased honestly! I would suggest a Link or a Unichip - the latter could be mapped with a manual or electronic boost controller, the former does has its own boost controller.
1. DAWES FAQ
The Dawes manual boost controller is a ball-spring device which costs about £35 in the UK and can give decent improvements in performance. It can be fitted in minutes with no tools required except maybe scissors. The main benefits are dramatic improvements in turbo spool up time, as well as a wider boost and torque curve - the effects of this can be quite considerable. However, if you push it too far so could the safety implications - if you are foolish you could lose your engine. In fitting any performance device to your car you should know what you are doing and if in any doubt consult a professional.
Documented experience on Scoobynet seems greatest with the MY99/00 UK models, and up to fuel cut (approx 17 PSI) most cars seem to cope well with fuelling and timing, although data in track conditions has not been collected. A boost gauge and air fuel ratio meter should be considered ESSENTIAL when fitting a Dawes. You need to also consider fuel cut, compressor efficiency, intercooler efficiency, charge temperatures, injector duty cycle, knock and exhaust gas temperatures. Bear in mind also that on part throttle there can be excessive boost on part throttle on cars with small turbos (MY98 on) which can affect driveability, control on bends, as well as cause lean running of your engine with potential serious conequences. Despite these issues, you will see from the threads below that many have worked ways around these limitations and are using the devices safely. Scoobynet, myself, Dawes suppliers or any of the posters in the below links/threads will not be liable for any personal injury or engine damage caused by any of your modifications.

If i buy the fuel cut device and the dawes i assume i could run what boost i want. What would be a safe boost level to run this car at with the above mods.Is it just as powerful and reliable as getting the car chipped as i don't want to have to go looking for another engine. Was going to go to falkland to get the car chipped but wanted to see what feed back i got about the dawes first as i know it's a fraction of the money.Any advice would be great. Cheers.UK Model.

Not stickly true, in his spare time he likes to brake into Evo's and de-tune them to 90bhp Please find something more constructive to say Wrxeat - I don't have a scooby or an evo but if you ask me they are both good cars and are from the same gene pool - and you both owe Audi big time anyway!!

Take the wheels off
Wire the wastegate open (probably still over 90 BHP though)
Block the exhaust.
I love Evos. Really.
wrxeat I didn't write all that toady it was obviously a cut and paste job - I wrote it previously because of demand as I was getting about 30 emails a day about Dawes devices. Yes I could and do spend all day making my car quicker
