Default EJ207 with Ej20G heads

I know its backwards to what most people are asking.

Im about to rebuild my Ej20G and my engineer has thrown the Idea of a Ek207 block!
I like the idea as from what I can find on here the Ej207 is a strong forged and balanced block!

I dont like the idea of having to rewire my loom and buy a new ECU.

So had a thought. Can i use my Ej20G heads on the Ej207? That one I could keep my loom ECU(ESL daughterboard) and my injectors etc.

Im sure I would have to do some calculating with compression heights..

Could anyone share any info on if this is possible, Or am i dreaming and should just rebuild my Ej20G!

I'm currently aiming to have around 380hp at the fly.

Any info would be great!

I think you'll be heading down the route of spending a LOT more in the long run. You're best off speaking to some of the experts on here first such as Engine Tuner alan Jeffery, Scooby clinic, FB tuning etc.

They might be more competitive than you think.

Thanks for the reply, I'm living in Macau (china-ish) and not able to take advantages of tuners with great rebuild expertise!!!

After a bit more research Looks like it should fit.

The crank timing wheel would have to be swapped with the older one to make my ECU work. Has anyone done this?

I am sure I saw this conversion listed on Andy Forrest's web page/site

http://www.andyforrestperformance.co.uk/26911.html

Is that what you mean...?

Thanks Looks similar. Seem it should all bolt together fine. Just a slight mod in swapping the crank signal sensors over.
Fingers crossed!

Yes, just use your heads and timing pulleys onto the EJ207 bottom end and your good to go

Am i correcting in thinking.

Head should bolt straight on with a EJ207 Gasket. Water passages should align?

Knock sensor requires the plugs swapped

Crank timing wheel needs to be swapped

Use the Ej20G timing wheels and belts?

Thank alot guys! This info is great!

It's quite a popular conversion using the EJ207 bottom end onto earlier heads
