engine failure :(
so the other day i was takeing my brother to fetch his new motor well that was the plan but we never made it there because my car decided to break down half way there.. i gave it a little boost out of a bend and it made a noise that sounded like a chain snaping with the same continues sound until i rolled to a stop on a hill, i then tryed to start it and the starter motor just clicked asif somthing was jammed i then put it in reverse rolled back a little dipped the clutch and it just came to a complete hault it didnt evan try to bumpstart :/ the cambelt is in tact so that hasnt snapped.. also a fue hours before this happend i hit boost twice and i could hear a squeel (only through boost) ... i just wanted to post up before i go and spend a stupid amount of money on a new engine, i havent had the car to long so im rather gutted any help appreciated.. thanks

Possibly unrelated, maybe not. Would seem not though if you have no selection issues. Plus gearboxes tend to go with a bang in my experience.
Drop the oil out of the gear box, the plug on it is magnetic, so there'll be bit's attached to it.
This may be getting more expensive for you though.
