Default Speed sensor failure, symptoms????

Hi guys, can anyone answer the above question?
Basically interested in knowing what a failed speed sensor would do to the car in terms of running and power?
Is it likely to reduce the power of the engine?
Cheers Ian.

The speedo would stop working and the ecu wouldnt recieve a signal so would probably put the car in limp mode

Ok thanks, engine is in a different vehicle, running just 2 wheel drive (RWD) The speed sensor is picked up off the front wheel so when on the dyno last week when it was quite considerably down on power this could of been due to the ecu not recieving a signal due to front wheels not turning?
Cheers Ian.
