black plastic can? what's it for??
I have a my98 classic
I was cleaning the inter cooler a few days ago
I got a little side tracked when rebuilding the car back up, stupid me (rushing) forgot to tighten the jubilee clamp that hold the T-pipe on to the compressor (turbo). Anyway as you can imagine a few mile down the road I put my foot down & a split second after the turbo spools up I heard a massive burst followed by a massive loss in power ..
I stopped had a look and the pipe had come off. I tried to put it back on but had no luck. I drove 3 mile home at a max of 20 mph in 5 th gear home
I have now put the pipe on and tightened the clamp everything works fine apart from when I pull up at the lights my revs dip then go up above idle then drops after a few high n low self revving it just settles and idles normally
now i have had a look under the bonnet and all I can see that looks out of place is a lose pipe that fitted to the top of a plastic can cylinder thing witch sits behind the drivers head light & next to ABS unit. I think it has one pipe attached at the bottom of it & three on top...the pipe on the left (nearest to ABS) it atached to the cylinder ox thing but the other side if this pipe has a short metal tube inserted but attached to nothing else
so does anyone know where it is meant to be attached to (if anything)
and what is the black can-box cylinder thing for?

Think mine from memory has a light grey device on one pipe. think that is a one way valve but, again, may be wrong. Hope its some help. You may get more useful help later when people come from work

Hi pal Ive just had anther look at it & it has a valve on it but coming out of the valve is another pipe heading towards the turbo end of the pipe is a metal tube/sleeve
it looks like its meant to attached to another pipe, but there's nothing near it to connect it to

Yeah pal there is a diagram of one on here, but it only has two pipes on top not three.
Also quite a few threads on how to remove them and bye pass them but again, there instructions only mention two pipes on top
