Default Embarrassing Help Needed

Kinda embaressed about posting this but need to change my bulbs in the Subaru. ive cut my hands to shreds trying to get it out but the battery seems to be to close to the back of the headlight housing for my fat hands.

Whats the quickest and easiest way of changing them?

Thanks

What model Impreza do you have?

I found popping my clusters out on my Blobeye was worth the hassle, can take them inside in the warmth - make sure all the bulbs are nicely seated and then just pop the clusters back in when you're done.

Same with the rears, actually.

Yep once the bolts are out, there's a white bracket which kinda clips into the car. Just pop that out with a flathead screwdriver and then maneuver the cluster out of it's hole.

Why, oh WHY have manufacturers started this?

On my Xantia which we just scrapped, the headlights had to come out on the passeneger side to change bulbs, but changing a foglight bulb was a bumper-off job and changing dash bulbs was steering wheel, airbag and half tyhe dash to remove, nearly four hours' work

On our Astra, the bulbs CAN be changed with the lights in place, but you risk leaving covers not seated properly, so then you get condensation inside

"Easier" to remove the bumper, then the lights......but WHY?????

Is it that they want the car to have to go to a garage for even a bulb change?
