Default Fuel smell

Hi peps got a w reg impreza and getting strong fuel smells while car sitting and running. Can't see no leaks seems like it coming from drivers rear have removed inspection plate but no signs or smell its weird anyone help please cheers

if it were a bugeye it would probably be the well documented recall fault

in behind the plastic mud shield in the inner wing is favourite place rob also check where pipe goes into actual tank - if your smelling fuel m8 youve got fuel

I stuck head under car and no signs of leakage and looked where fuel pump fits and no wretch patches there either but car stinks of fuel

And can't smell fuel outside car only inside which is weird

If was filler neck wouldn't I see a leak when filling up

you might my man - its usually pinholes though or the top overfill pipe has come away from the main pipe

I have removed rear seat base and I can't see anytihing only some fuel pipes coming through a rubber bung which look ok to me

In my bugeye wrx I had same problem as you robsscooby. Petrol smell inside car but not under the bonnet or under car. I took off the intake manifold and discovered that it was leaking from all injector seals plus few of those rubber petrol lines under intake were also cracked. There was no way to see those leaks without taking off intake manifold

Have replaced fuel pipes under bonnet and had inlet manifold off and changed injector seals 100% because it stunk of fuel before I changed all that lot

Been at the fuel pump access panel?

Pipes look fine and yes had panel up and can't find a fuel leak and can't locate smell but stuck head under arch today and filler pipe looks rusty and car has been sat since 2008 will look weekend more at fuel filler neck. What people wreckon about fuel cap

Think they are brake pipes as it would be dangerous having fuel pipes running inside the car. Unless a stripped out rally/race car.

I thought the fuel pipes ran through the car tbh I can honestly say I have never noticed them whilst the car is up in the air

These are the hard rear brake lines coming from the a.b.s pump - do not touch unless you have to - the small pipes going through the rubber bung that you are seeing goes to a brake splitter and is a complete mare to fix

Are we still saying fuel filler neck or so peps wreckon something else I honestly can't see a
Wet patch any where and when
Look up under wheel arch the bit of filler neck I can see is thick brown with rust
