Default Silicon air box intake hose

Looking at a silicon air box intake hose to replace the plastic corrugated one and wondered if this will have a detrimental effect on running? With the air flow being smoother will it be best to fit when car is getting mapped or can it be used without mapping?

Cheers

Chris

If its of a larger diameter I'd imagine the MAF would have to re-scaled by the mapper, that's if its larger and/or changes the flow characteristics greatly.. (which I doubt it will)

I'm no expert but would say it would be fine to run pending its not too greater in size, but to have any real advantage would have to be used with supporting mods and mapped accordingly.. otherwise I'm sure you'd see no benefit..

It's only if the MAF housing itself is changed to a larger dia. will re-scaling be necessary.

By removing the bumps should this not improve airflow?

In theory yes, but the gains will be pretty well unoticable. It's only with fairly major surgery to the intake system do you start to feel real benefits. Do it for the looks.
