Default Check your cold air intakes!!!

Out of sight out of mind springs to mind!

It was bothering me that I had no idea what filter etc was on the end of the cold air intake on the blob STI I've just bought, so after getting an early finish today I thought I would wip the arch liner out and check it over.

And found this...

Seems to be a pretty cheap and nasty filter although it has probably not been checked in the 3 year ( approx ) it's been fitted

Can anyone recommend a good replacement filter? I know the size I need etc but I'm sure i read on here that some filters have a negative effect on maf sensors....

Cheers

Mick

I have an APS inner wing kit which has a K&N on it and i cant fault it, although they say it will do a million miles or whatever i change it every couple years for peace of mind.

I think it was the k&n that I had heard could damage maf meter due to the oil?

Could just be an old wives tale though lol, I'll Have a look now and see what's available I want to order one tonight as there's a distinct possibility of a load of rusty ****e being sucked through my turbo otherwise!

Cheers

Right looking at the k&n universal filters on demo tweeks website, the 70mm internal neck dia which is the one that I need is only rated to 160bhp? Discuss lol

Anyone got a link to a filter they are using? Any suppliers on here?

Cheers

i take mine off every few months and blow it over with a high pressure airline at work, cant say its ever been too dirty though.
are you sure your arch liner is fitted correctly as mine never seems to let any dirt in.

The plastic liner was cracked quite badly at the bottom behind the bumper, I'm assuming the water has been spraying up through there.

What sort of filters on yours tommy?

Cheers
