Default PCV valve/ Crankcase venting- just a quick breather question!

Coming out of the crankcase breather, which I understand is the PCV in tech terms (?), there is a pipe that comes vertically up, and one that comes out horizontantally.

This is on a 98 classic with non standard pipework!

Can someone tell me if the following is right as looked at a standard car, and both pipes were venting to atmos!:

- the pipe that comes out vertically normally goes into the intake?
- Where does the horizontal one normally connect to? Is it the vacum off the manifold (the big adaptor under the intake?)

All help appreciated.

Cheers

Grant

It should go into the manifold below the throttle body into the pcv valve and the vertical one should go to the metal pipe that links the two breathers on the cam covers but to be sure some pics would make it easier

Appreciated gents- so in essence it uses the vacum to pull the vapours out!

Strangely it was off on my mates too hence question.

That was very helpful and appreciate you making the effort- been using the car to hill limb for last 5 years so decided to take it rallying lol
