Running without a turbo
A little something for a Sunday.
Does anyone know how well the turbo scooby engine will run without a turbo? I have this spare in my garage
http://www.flickr.com/photos/86896418@N03/8016065373/http://www.flickr.com/photos/86896418@N03/8016065373/
and one of these on my driveway
Just wondering whether to keep the engine for a spare for my scooby, fit it to the camper, or sell it and buy a sport engine for the camper.
Cheers, Rich.

the compression on the engine is for a turbo to be used, a std sport engine would have more power than a turbo 2.0L without the turbo
as Gaz says, Do it right, with a turbo & intercooler.
A bit of help here http://www.rjes.com/

I have read you can run low compression engines without a turbo, it's whether or not it's healthy on the flat 4 block. If a sport engine is peanuts then this may be the way to go as i'll have some cash to put towards some goodies for rj engineering.

Deffo fit the turbo engine into the camper you just need to work out the mounting of the intercooler. You could mount radiator fans to it so it would get airflow where ever you mounted it.

Cash flow limits fitting a turbo as I'd have to source one. Although it would be nice! The sport engine will be an improvement over the 50 bhp one in there now!!

It will run but itll be gutless, like its constantly got turbo lag, if you was to go to the effort of fitting the ej20lump then either fit the sti one with a turbo or fit a standard 1.8-2.0 nasp
