Powder coating parts dos anddonts
Hi all, im going to be taking my car off the road for some shell restoration and paint etc. i work in steel fabrication and we do powder coating also, so probably gna get any old rusting parts re coated free wooopi! But just a quick simple question, in regards to re paintiong shock and brake calipers with seals and oils involved, are these at risk going into a hot oven to bake the powder or can it damage seals etc? I know rakes get hot on the car so more intrested to know if the shocks would be ok cos ill just be stripping them down to the point where the tops and springs are removed then just mask off the legs etc. thanks

Ive seen 2 inlet manifolds done and wreck the engine after, the blast material never got cleaned out properly then got stuck in the rings, one engine needed a re-bore/pistons the other needed a hone and new rings, both were brand new builds!

I'm sure you know as well as me about powder coating
I'm personally not a fan ( we used to do it at last place )
If it chips you can't just touch it up & when water gets under it , that's game over and off it flakes
Bits and bobs like fixed brackets aren't that bad , but springs and things prone to chipping I would rather do with a good quality paint
As for oven temps , it's subjective , some say they don't recommend doing wheels
I personally wouldn't worry about that aspect
