Default how hard is swapping an ej20 in a classic

As above, got a classic wrx, engines started tapping sometimes, but stops, then starts again lol, anyway looks like its the end of the line for it. Now the bodys pretty much rust free and its just had new brakes, hsd coilovers etc fitted so I think its too good to scrap!

How difficult is ripping the engine out n puttin another in? Also hoow difficults rebuilding one to standard spec?

Cheers

Easy to swap can be done in a couple of hours rebuilding is easy enough if your confident with the spanners and find a good guide.

Want to get a similar age engine as some of the wiring is slightly different. Can be done but it's just a little quicker

It's quite easy tbh if you get the same version, gets complicated if you don't ,don't forget the clutch pivot ,that's the main one ppl don't know about.

Hi bud, just to give you another option I've rebuilt my engine to standard spec, but with new bearings (acl race) and rings plus steel head gaskets. All tolerance's checked, heads reconned etc for around £600 So its now like a new one.
The only thing with chucking a second hand engine in is that you never really know the condition of what your putting in so could be a waste of money and time.
Hope this helps.
Tim.

Hi, i removed my old engine out of my my98 and replaced it with a V5 P1 engine. It took a bit of thinking about and had to make up a loom harness to fit the later V5 ECU but appart from all of this its a doddle.
