Going to do a few..
De dump valve...(is it worth it? )
Already got exhaust

Car is a very good and standard v4 sti.. So don't wanna ruin it..
Just want to make engine bay tidy and look good as well as doing upgrades that improve car not ruin it..

So any other ideas..

In response to your question - these cars run recirc valves, not dump valves. I'd leave well alone, especially as it's a standard car.

Changing to a dump valve or getting rid of it without making other modifications AND having the car mapped is asking for trouble.

If you've got an exhaust, is it full decat? Do you have a cat in the up pipe (assuming not on classics).
If you've got one, get rid.

On top of this, I'd add a decent panel filter (Green, K&N, Pro R etc), then do a full service, and get it remapped.
On a 16g, I'd expect this to easily be making 300+ bhp.

On a non-mapped car, it won't drive as well as it could, and you'll likely get poorer mpg (and worse case damage your car) if you modify extensively without mapping.
Even changing the exhaust to a more free flowing item is enough to cause blips in the drivability of the car.

So many people buy these cars and think you can just chuck loads of bolt on mods at them and the car will just adapt and be loads faster. It doesn't, and it won't be.
To illustrate, a guy in our forum with a classic fitted bigger injectors, a FMIC and an induction kit, but didn't have the car mapped.
Result? His car made just 250bhp when it made more as standard, and should have been making 300+, and it's bunny hopping everywhere.
Just a warning in case you weren't aware

In terms of taking it further, with a few mods you can bolt on an 18g turbo if you want, although I'm guessing yours will be a top rather than front-entry turbo so it'll probably need a quick mod here and there to accomodate - a specialist or other member who's done this should be able to advise you as I'm more familiar with the newage cars.
If you go bigger than 18g you'll need to start looking at 6 speed boxes etc as the 5 speeds aren't well renound for their ability to deal with big torque figures.

Dump V - get rid of it or dont buy, no benefit whatsoever

I suggest you take note of the above post, take advise, do your research before committing to anything and dont get sucked into all the "bells and whistles" as there not worth it.

There are experienced guys on here who have done it all so be all ears.

Dump valve
Don't bother
Lots of threads about it lately
Nice old classic like that
Suggested mods
Spend £2/300 on quality polishes and waxes and maybe a machine polisher
To give the bodywork a new lease of life or get it detailed professionally to
Transform the car
Not many good classes left so preservation is the key and a 14/16 year old car
Polished up well really turns heads

You're guessing wrong. FE turbo's post 96 ish.

Mines quick enough having never been remapped.

The chap on your local forum was a bit of a numpty thinking he'd get away with fitting bigger injectors with out mapping for them though.

Not going to touch it.. Been thinking about it.

Still got the standard exhaust

Fair enough - at least I was honest
Yeah I know he was a numpty, but some people can't be told.

As for never having been mapped - fine - depends what you've done.
All I'm saying is the car will 99/100 run better if it's setup to run with the mods you've fitted (unless your mapper's a numpty ).
I've seen 3 threads recently where people have gone nuts and fitted parts without a remap and then been confounded and upset when they cause issues.
- FMIC (confuses the MAF, jumpy acceleration, CEL)
- Full decat (CEL, sometimes overfuelling)
- The worst of all - dump valves - HKS ones especially causing stalling and lumpy idling.

For the sake of a few hundred quid to ensure the car's not det'ing, I think a proper map in the hands of a good mapper is well worth the cost. On a classic especially it's cheap as chips and a no brainer IMHO.
You'll often end up with better fuel economy too.

See I can't get away from tuning it can I
Think will see about gear changes in box...as 6 speed is a bit to pricey.
Cost more than the car did
But will see

Simon Roe is Jolly Green Monster mate
http://www.jollygreenmonster.co.uk
Note you'll need flash to see it
His number is 07912 872581

Has mapped my last two cars and many other friends with no issues at all. The same unfortunately can't be said for others on my local group who used cheaper mappers and then experienced issues with drivability.
Si has a good reputation and I stick with him

And getting loads powder coated.. Arb's and a few arms.

But will definitely give him a call
