Default Exedy Carbon Twin Plate Problem on 5 speed

Hi

Basically me and my mate just fitted a Exedy twin plate to his 5 speed Type R box & now we're having a few issues. Firstly the biting point is way too low, secondly selecting gears is difficult, almost like forcing it in. Lastly the car moves forward a bit with the clutch pressed????

The clutch is brand new, it was alighned, torqued etc. Worst case scenario would be pressure plate but thats out of question as the clutch is new.

Isit worth adjusting the clutch pedal, or have we done something totally stupid?

Help appreciated
Kas

Sounds like clutch release bearing is not fitted correctly

What makes you say that?

Pretty sure it was the right way round?

Another thing i had was the top gearbox mount bolt was put in the wrong way and was restricting the clutch fork movement. Did you bleed the clutch with the slave cylinder rod pushed in to remove all the air?
Cheers

I have checked the bolt and its clear access for the fork to operate as it should.

In regards to bleeding the clutch yes

Just when you push the clutch pedal down then the bearing releases for it to engage gear, but you say it's hard to put in gear and when it does the car moves slightly, sounds like the bearing is not lifting fully. As to why I said it maybe not fitted correctly but as shack said, it's been checked and ok, so I don't know from here.
Was it ok before?

Trying to think of other causes
Can you take the rubber boot of from around the fork and see that the release bearing is on the pressure plate correctly and when someone operates the clutch pedal that it moves squarely.
Did you get fitting instructions with the kit and is there anything about adjustment after fitting?

Yes mate it was fine with old clutch which was a single plate paddle. After fitting this new twin plate it started.

The first thing to do is bleed the clutch, once that is done adjust the pedal. It's normal to have to adjust it for a new clutch especially when changing from a normal one to a twin plate.

I have removed it and checked and release bearing is fine.

I had same problem on mine & pedal adjustment fixed it, bit fiddly but only takes about 5 or 10 minutes. I'm sure this will fix it, let us know how it goes.

It does sound like it still needs bleeding as its dragging but as you have said you've done that already, how much free play is there in the pedal?

And when you've fixed it, you can get back to the plan of launching it as that's what you bought it for didn't you

adjust the pedal length once bled, Seen this happen before, you just need to lengthen the rod in the master cylinder for the clutch so it pulls the clutch plate a little further to clear the friction discs
