Default cold start after a week engine management light

hi there, the scooby is playing up as usual.

been away for a week and the temperature has dropped considerably,

get back to the car and start her up (2 degrees outside)
on start up i get CEL light and it revs itself to 2k and back .

the only variables could be,
the fact i topped the oil up last week (done 130 miles since with no problems)
the auxiliary belt is squeaking like hell, guessing it needs adjusting.

any help welcome guys as i need to drive it tomorrow

thanks, Joe
