Oil pickup pipe
I've posted about a oil pressure problem over the last week. And how with help from people here I'm certain it's a cracked oil pickup pipe. Does any one know how easy these are to replace. And also is it a subaru only part or can I get else where. Thanks a lot

Hi mate, big grey area the old pick up pipe, but loads of threads on the old USA subaru forums about oil pick up pipe cracking at the neck and engine suffering from oil pickup problems, new pick up pipe can be checked and changed for not much money but will have to drop sump. the only alternative i found for a better pick up pipe pipe was a Killerbee pickup pipe from mocom racing, the only company in the UK who did them

Have you had read of this thread?
Post 25 seems to describe it.
If I am correct, the procedure is:
Jack up front of car
Remove lower cover
Drain oil (otherwise there will be a BIG mess!)
Remove sump (10mm head bolts)
Remove the oil pickup pipe
Remove oil seal
Replace new pipe with seal
Replace sump with new sealant
Refill engine with oil
Run engine and ensure you have good oil pressure
Check for leaks and if none, put the panel back
The hardest part would be removing the sump. I did it on my engine today with the engine out and upside down. Not easy to say the least but I found that using a scraper (like removing old gaskets) to prise off the sump is a good thing.
I believe that is what you need to do but happy to be corrected.

I run a hawk to m8
I certainly wouldn't be putting a oem subaru pic up back in if I were you
You can get the sump / baffle & pick up from
Rcm
Killer bee
Cosworth
Budget yourself around the £550 - £600
For the whole kit
You won't regret it , & it's a must if your upping power on the 2.5
Regards
