Default oil pressure problem

Hi all new to scooby net just a quick question about my00 2000awd turbo wagon. I bought it about 11months spun a shell on first engine so bought a second hand one and fitted a oil pressure and temp gauge and all was well untill today when my oil pressure went from 3bar idle when warm to 2bar i then left the car for 2hours then went for a drive 10miles round trip and when i got home it was at 1.5bar idle oil temp is allways at 80-90
Question is why such a drop in pressure in one day?

oil was changed about 700mile ago
thanks mark

Oil pump backing plate screws coming loose perhaps, or a dodgy oil pressure sensor or connection

my bro keeps saying oil pump backing screws.
i just dont want to be spining another shell even driving speeds has dropped aswell it was sitting at about 6bar now it is at about 5bar
how common are the oil pumps at failing because i dont know how many miles the second hand engine has done?

The screws in the pumps do come loose. its a known problem. I take it youve done the basis and checked the oil level? and for leaks?

thanks for ur replys yes first things i done was checked for leaks and checked the oil.
Oil is spot on and the engine is dry with no leaks although some times i do get the smell of burning oil but no smoke.
Another quick question my oil pressure gauge i under the alternator is this the correct place for it because i keep thinking weather it should be at the other end of the engine ie further away from the oil pump because i am getting 1.5 bar just behind the oil pump what is the other end of the engine getting???

Did you put the same grade of oil back in it when you changed it, As a lower viscosity will result in lower warm temps.

yes always been millers 10/40 with genuine subaru filter.
I am now thinking it might be a gauge problem or sender because i have just drove 12mile in it and seems to be normal again unless it was just having weird moment.
I might just change the oil pump gauge and sender to be on the safe side though
thanks to all your replies

Old style mechanical oil gauges are better in my view.

Yep! aggree there. I just don't trust electrical gauges very much. My son and his G/F both have Prosport gauges in their cars and both have experienced problems.
