Default Lamco oil temperature question.....

Hi folks,

Ive bought a 1998 type r which has got 3 lamco guages fitted - Kg/cm2 oil pressure not working), volts (ok) and oil temperature (ok).

However yesterday I noticed the wire coming from the sump plug oil temp sensor was not connected to anything? So I checked at the no.3 cylinder location and found nothing there???

So, does anyone know where the temp sensor could be located as something is making my gauge appear to be working?

Thank you

The oil pressure sensor for the gauge is normally T eed off the oil pressure switch below and to the left of the alternator.
Sounds like someone has swapped the connectors to make the oil temp gauge work.

Could be, or it could be in a sandwich plate behind the oil filter.

Not the sandwich plate as I've just fitted one for my oil cooler!

Why would someone use the usual oil pressure location for oil temperature, and not use the oil temp sensor fitted to the sump??

Does anyway have a photo of the oil pressure sender so I can verify what exactly is being measured below the alternator please?
