Default Is this bad idea

Watched a video on YouTube where someone had blocked with abit of sheet metal the recirc valve, makes quite a cool sound, but will it damage anything to do it for a day?

05 sti by the way on standard vf35

Wouldn't do it with a VF series turbo. The TD series and MD/SC turbos are better suited to it.

Only a good idea if you have a TD series turbo. The vf series turbos don't have strong enough compressor wheels.

The boost will be forced back through the turbo creating that strange but awesome noise. It is often refferd to as flutter or more commonly chatter. I wouldn't suggest doing it to a vf series turbo they are not strong enough unfortunately.

When I changed my air filter box to the rcm induction on my 04STI running a vf35 there was a slight bit of chatter. However not enough to be satisfied with. As tommy says adding a front mount would help but that's not as cheap as a bit of sheet metal.

God knows what vauxhall use nowadays. They used to use crappy kkk turbos. Not to be confused with the racists of USA

Blocked it on my old VF and didn't last too long. My new md321h has it blocked and I love it. Fmic gets fitted soon so may have even more lol
