Default Steering issue

Hello, I am having an issue with my 05 sti. When im driving along i get an intermitent problem. When i turn the steering goes extremely heavy for a second or two. I only seem to get it when im giving it abit. i had replaced the Power steering belt about 8 months ago after the original had shredded and i had replaced it with a non genuine belt. This was fine for a few months and then i started getting this problem, so i tightened it up a touch and thought this had sorted it but got the same issue again so i tightened it again but this did not work. I have now replaced the belt with a geniune belt (nearly 4 times the price of a non genuine) and still have the same problem. i dont want to keep tightneing this belt and it is at the same point as the orifginal belt (tell by the discolouration on the tensioner).

any ideas would be much appreciated.

James

The level of the fluid is correct, can the fluid itself degrade and cause issues?
(Thanks for the reply)

As above. Had similar problems myself. A fluid change solved it
