Default do impreza have canbus?

hey all, as im after some headlight bulbs for my car, my dad said just stick your HID's in to see what the glare is like, how bad they look but after fitting which took 2 hours due to a very heavy downpoor leaving my poor car with bin bags in place for lights, i couldnt get them to power up, if i bypass the oe wiring they light going direct from the battery which shows theres nothing wrong with the bulb/ballast tried all 6 of mine nothing!

normal bulbs work fine "/

I dont plan on keeping the HID's in just want to see how they look, this afternoon has just puzzled me, as i had no bulb gone sign to suggest canbus.

car is 2005 blob sti uk, H1 bulbs

Many thanks dan

CanBus not 'til Hawkeye or Hatch onwards.

Sounds as if you are not wiring them correctly especially as Subaru uses switched earth.

These may be of use...........

Possibly, but would check the wiring diagram as well to see you were connecting up correctly......................

Mine was the exact same! Turn the power lead around and put red to black as fluked up as that sounds I know, but where the plug goes in to the ballast I had to reverse the plug after many hours of scratching my head and I was doing as you were with the standard bulb and it worked fine turned the plug around and hey presto they sprung into life lol, I thought I was a one off as I couldn't find anyone with the same prob but give it a go, as when they were in the correct way around they would blow a fuse, it was very very odd!

Try what I did pal, fit it all as normal but reverse the plug that goes in to the ballast, the set I had where red laser or something like that, bought from a car show, proper baffled me and was doing same as you powering off the battery direct and it would power up all fine still don't understand it to be honest lol

Gathered it was something to do with a switched live, just puzzled me when the standard bulbs light up fine and on a test light they were the correct way around but flicked opposite when ballast was connected still all ended well
