New Wiper Motor Needed?
Hi there,
My classic scooby's front wipers seem to be quite loose and when driving they go up too far and hit the side pillar. They also seem to sit a bit high on the window when not in use. Is this a new windscreen motor does anyone know?
Thanks,
Jamie

Sounds like it's had a new screen and the muppet that fitted it didn't put the wipers back properly.
If you prise off the two covers at the pivots (the bottom end of the wiper arm), there are nuts. Undo and remove on at a time, pull the wiper blade off and reposition a BIT closer to the bottom of the screen. Refit the nut, tighten and refit cover.
An alternative way relys on you being quick with the ignition key:
Set the wipers going and switch the ignition right off as they reach the furthest point up their arc. It takes a couple of goes, but you can now proceed as above, but use the windscreen edge to set the outer wiper.
Not difficult to do.
Oh and a tip: if you ever want them off again, mark their rest position with a piece of masking tape or similar.
Secondly, if the wiper arm is loose on the pivot when the nut is fully tightened, it may need a new linkage. What usually happens is that the splines wear if the nuts haven't been fully tightened. You can sometimes get away with it by wrapping a couple of turns of aluminium foil around the pivot spline BEFORE refitting the arm. But it's a temeporary bodge, I'm afraid.
