Default Is there much to be gained by changing the up pipe??

Im in the process of putting together some parts to upgrade my 2004WRX. Basically Sti Pinks, VF35 turbo or similar, Sti Intercooler and a Walbro fuel pump. I was wondering if there is much to be gained by changing the wrx up-pipe for an Sti one or an aftermarket one?? Im not going to change the headers at all so just wanted to know if its worth changing or not??

Any thought/comments would be appreciated

Yes i thought there was a cat in the WRX up-pipe so removing it should free up a bit of power eh! And yes a re-mapp is defo on the cards as soon as the parts are fitted.. Dont want the car going BOOM now do I!!

Also a good panel filter and exhaust if you aint already got one and you should see a healthy 320-330 some make more some make less but it will certainly be a noticeable difference from what your driving now

Ive got an AEM air intake as the car had some cheap and nasty ebay indution kit when I bought it. I know the standard air box is probably better but I do like the sound of the AEM. As for the exhaust ive got a 3" with a sports cat but probably gona go completely de-cat come upgrade time so should show some good gains 320 plus and i'll be happy anyway!!

Cheers for the advice anyway Guys much appreciated!!

Well most people in the know on here will tell you that a TD04 with a decent remapp (which ive had done by Duncan @Race Dynamix) and exhaust should make around 270-280 so with the upgrades im doing should see a lot more I would expect.. Im no expert mind..

Johnny: have a word with Harvey (Smith) on here, he does ported headers on a return basis, heat wrapped iirc, plus one of his trick up-pipes will see your car spool much lower, and may give more torque and more bhp.

Worth asking.......
