Default What type of steel is the fuel pump assembly on a classic?

What type of steel is the fuel pump assembly on a classic? I'm looking at welding a couple of an-6 connectors to the end of the connectors but there are two types you can order, a mild steel or stainless.

This is the item:

And this is what i want to weld it to:

I'm aware that there is a connector from Torques UK on eBay for this but i like the weld on fittings as it's a solid connection.

Thanks

it's mild steel
It doesn't make any difference mate
Both mild steel or stainless will weld fine
It's not a stressed component So get stainless
If I'm tig welding dirty or cold rolled mild steel at work And the spec Allows me I use stainless filler wire to get a cleaner weld anyway

Sam I'm running nearly 5 bar fuel pressure and the push on connector is made for the job and has never leaked

Im just being a bit fussy and want a cleaner looking setup.

Wonder what pressure the quick connect can handle, for example if you are running a 600 BHP car.

I think i will use this connector, keeps things simpler than going and getting bits welded on. Also my boss pointed out custom parts when they brake aren't as quick a fix.

Thanks

What about bulkhead fittings? Saves welding.

Johnny.
