Default '03 blob and OBD reader

I have been reading about bluetooth OBD readers passing real-time information to an Android phone (or a PC). I don't really need to do this but it sounds entertaining so I'm interested.

I have seen some cheap bluetooth OBD readers on eBay (eg this one http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1405278412...84.m1423.l2649) and I'm wondering whether these will work at all with my car, which is an '03 blobeye STI.

Since this is really a toy, I'm not bothered that this isn't the latest and greatest of its type or that it reads every last bit of information, but has anyone tried anything like this? What were your experiences?

I'm at work just now so don't have all the details but.... The Elm protocol blue tooth plugs are slow to poll and don't read the extended SSM parameters. There is one that works with the SSM protocol but it's around 100 pounds.

Also I couldn't get the above adapter to work with my Spec C at all. It worked fine with my wife's 2009 focus though.

The Blob should be OBDII and not SSM. I use the Elm 327 bluetooth adapter and the Android App Torque Pro. Total cost for adapter and app is Sub £20 and is a good bit of kit.

That's what I have the elm 327 and torque pro but no joy on the spec c, perhaps it's a spec c thing and it's fine on a standard car, I know the ecu is not the same as standard sti

It's has SSM extended parameters for logging that the Elm adapters won't read. It shouldn't in theory stop it from reading and resetting codes. It didn't work for me though....

I think I'll risk the grand sum of £15 and see whether it works. I'll report back on my findings.
