Default Low power at (very) low rpm - forester 05 non turbo

Hi all,

After driving for some years with french diesel cars I now have a subaru again.
It's a forester (2005), 2.0XS manual transmission with an lpg tank.
I bought it secondhand and it has 130 000 miles on it.

While the cars has plenty of power in the higher rpms, power/torque at low rpms is really low.
I don't know what to expect from this engine and since my last cars were diesels maybe it's just my imagination.

When you drive in first gear (hi gearing) at 2 miles/hour or so and then you step on it it's not very linear.
Below 1800 rpm nothing really happens, when in a traffic jam it's not possible to keep up with the guy in front of you.
Above 1800 rpm things slowly start to move and around 2700 rpm everything is as one would expect.
The garage already replaced both lambda/o2 sensors (check engine light was on, we had a 02 sensor error or so, ECU was not fully reset I think).
All this is while driving on petrol, lpg has some other issues.

So my question is, is this normal ? Should I just keep the engine in the higher revs to compensate for it's lack in power at very low rpms ?
Or should there be more power available and is there a problem, if so what could this possibly be ?

I searched for a curve online but couldn't find anything that started at 1000 rpm or so.

Thanks

n/a scoobs dont start to make power till 3000 rpm, so yes they aint the quickest from 0....i find smaller cars can pull away slightly, but once im moving, i can soon catch up, overtake and pull clear...dont forget deisel's make all the power low down..so hence the feeling you have
