Sounds very strange as DEI is top quality kit, they do smoke and smell a little when first fitted but it should not burn or set on fire, are you sure its 100% DEI and not a copy ian as some of the cheap sh/t around at the minute is not up to the job.
It came from demon tweeks so I hope it is real!!
I'll get some pics up over the next day or so

Good bit of kit and no duty to pay.
You've seen mine haven't you Ryan?
i got one off ebay, dont rate it at all its too big they reckon you can touch the outside after driving & it will be cool well mine to bloody hot to touch, cant comment on the top quality ones.
my blanket took a few good runs to burn in and stop smoking, but now after 60 odd hard miles its excellent, although you can still get a faint smell from it when you first turn the engine off.

The smell ( I would describe ) is like a cinder toffee smell from good quality DEI
But any material that burns in your engine bay is a fire hazard
So if it's a fake , u want to take it off ASAP
