LARGE top mounted intercooler
Evening gents.
Question on the title regarding a 2002 WRX Bugeye. Large top mounted intercoolers. Now i know alot if not all will recommend the STI one. But i dont have an STI scoop, an undertray. Nor do i plan on getting one.
Ive been looking at the millions of options on fleabay like this
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/JAPSPEED-S...ht_2377wt_1222
Has anyone tried one. Bar an plate design like the front mounts. If so, what are they like to fitting? ie, is it a direct replacement only a deeper design
Im getting a turbo blanket, heat wrapped down pipe, up pipe and headers to lower under bonnet temps ie heat soak.
just wondering what the fellow subaru comunity thought
Thanks guys

Personally from experience i wouldn't buy anything from eBay! You would be as well buying an sti top mount as you said, and i can't see any problems with running one without a sti scoop or under tray!
I had an sti 10 top mount on my classic with no problems!

I really appreciate the feed back guys
Question.. the STI top mount is obviously larger, would the extended part above the turbo not induce more heat soak ,as in, not covered by the intercooler scoop shroud, thus negating the positive effects?
Hyperflow? Their intercoolers are probably a 3rd the value of my entire car
sorry, but way way outta my budget as much as id like one
There is the age old question though. FMIC or Top mount.
I had a FMIC on my classic, an i think it was the best mod i ever did. theres just the pain in the *** of fitting? Secondly, is it 'VITAL' i get a remap after an upgrade like this. i dont drive like a mad man. just the occasional spirited drive.
thanks for the info peeps

if you will go with STi TMIC would say,you will need bigger scoop and TMIC splitter, which is extra cost and without this STI TMIC will be not effective as with those parts
Agreed on Hyperflow, they cost lot more than concurrency and if they worth,in many people view yes worth, have look here in the For sale section,i'm sure someone here selling Hyperflow
FMIC on TD04L is in my view not worth, but if you are looking for bigger power at future would say, will worth there
FMIC fitting, depends on the makers, but usually Hybrid or Japspeed FMIC are good and easy to fit
Yes is recommended get mapped your car for this change, would very recommend or at least get car checked
