Default What engine

Hi guy my first post and probably one that's been answered before so sorry for that I've just got a 52 plate wrx with cam belt failure but after stripping the engine so far looks like its also had a big end issues apart from two bent exhaust valves and smashed piston. So my options are rebuild with new crank as I can't see the old one will be much use for another engine so what fits can my heads fit a pre 2001 block. I have no idea on scooby engines of what fits what but want to.

I have good understanding of turbos ecus etc as I'm building a 800bhp turbo beetle drag car so not afraid to get my hands dirty

Cheers andy

An Sti engine or at least a bottom half is a good place to start.

Ideally a MY01-05, 2.0L semi closed deck short block, heads will swap over but if you get a long engine with the AVCS(active valve control system)heads you would need a Newage 01-05 STi ecu to activate them with a few additional bits of wiring to the ecu

Don't hold me to it but I think your heads will swap straight onto a MY99-00 block too.

So I've moved forward a bit so thanks everybody for your help so far I've got and fitted a S7 STI engin. I've had to change the flywheel as the six speed one is different fitted a new clutch and popped her in . I've got to work out what I'm missing for the AVCS I think I may be part of the loom missing from the engine to the ecu.

So today's question is does anybody if this is the case and will a S7 STI ecu work straight forward with an S7 WRX

Cheers andy
