Default Car issues. Classic import blowing white smoke out the exhaust.

Hi guys,

Hoping you can help..

I have a Classic Import that i've had since March.

It had been find since we've had it and managed to fix a bad starting issue on it.

I took it to Castle Combe back in April and on the way back i was informed that the car was smoking. I got it off the motorway and could see that it was oil related.

Since then.. thinking its the turbo, we changed this with another we had lying around. Once that was replaced the car was started but still the same issue.

I've ran the car up to temp and left to idle for some time but it still blows out white smoke out the back of the exhaust.

Does this sound like an internal failure of some oil seal?

Is it worth replacing the engine? I need the car back by October for a ring trip so was thinking of just replacing the engine and rebuild the old one?

White smoke is usually water (oil blue & fuel black), so I would take it to a garage and have a 'Sniff' test done.

Is your water level going down at all? What are your temperatures like?

temps hold fine. we checked the water and it was full. The only level that was going down was the oil.

The car's been laid up for a long time and as suck TAX and MOT have both lapsed so getting it to a garage will take some thinking.

Hold your hand over the exhaust when it's smoking. You should be able to tell whether the residue left on your hand is oil or water.

If your loosing oil then it could be lot of different things. A compression test will help!
