Default Sucky Problem Around 4000rpm

Hi Guys

Had a bit of a problem driving about in the car this afternoon. When accelerating the car behaves normally however around the 4000rpm mark i get a loud hissing / wooshing noise and the car looses power. At first i thought it was the air conditioning having a bit of a fit but still did the same when I switched the air con off.

I assume therefore its the intake pipe sucking shut issue that I've read about on here before although I did have a Perrin silicone pipe fitted by API when I had the engine rebuilt a few months back and thought they didnt suffer this problem?

The rest of the intake is standard apart from an Afterburner panel filter.

Has anyone else had problems with the Perrin pipes? Or could it be something else perhaps?

Car is a 2006 Spec D with an SC46 based rebuild

Nothing appears split that I can see although the very short pipe coming off the front of the intercooler doesnt look straight - its as if the intercooler isnt sitting quite as it was before.

The car was mapped about 2 months ago by Bob Rawle - He fitted a 3 port boost solenoid at the same time and we had no problems then

Cheers for the pointers guys but still having a problem...

I've checked all the hoses and they all look fine, have checked the tightness of the jubilee clips as well - no prolems there.

I cant seem to do anything with the intercooler pipe - if you look at the first picture above its as if the intercooler is sitting higher than the manifold so cant get it to fit any better.

I've driven the car again today and think it might be turbo or exhaust related. When I hit 4000rpm and the wooshing starts I can control it by backing off slightly of the accelerator and then slowly pressing down again causes the wooshing to build up again.

Another funny thing is if i go to change gear while the car is wooshing there is a sudden jolt from the engine (a bit like hitting a rev limiter) but the revs dont go silly or anything like that.

I guess the next step is to check the exhaust and manifold to see if anything has come loose but I think I'll wait for the car to cool down a bit first!
