Default what should my wrx tickover at?

as im new to these im not sure if mine is behaving properly

car starts fine and idles @ 6-700 rpm,the rev needle doesnt jump around at all but the engine seems like its rocking a wee bit-not much at all really but enough to notice, and there is a ticking noise im guessing thats the injectors

also whats with the stupid subaru dip-stick? one side reads half full the other side reads quarter full

it might be me worrying a bit as its all new to me

sounds a little low if it rocks a bit.
could be plugs or lambda sensor or sometimes if the ecu has been reset, i.e battery unplugged for a while it may do this for a few days while it relearns.

right its lumpy when its started from cold it idles around 1500rpm but its a bit spluttery and there is a slight smell of petrol, you can feel the car wobbling from the tickover then when warm its settles at 700ish rpm and is fine,it doesnt hunt for its idle and when going thru the gears coming to a junction its fine too-no dipping in idle its just when its on choke from cold

Mine idles at around 800RPM once warm, currently have a 2.5l Hawkeye, and my old 2.0 WRX was the same.

Its in this months banzai mag or japanese performance.....idle control valve often gets clogged up. They are 364+VAT to replace but theres a really straight forward guide in the mag from scooby clinic to fix it......by the sounds of your issues, I'd give that a whirl
