Default Steering Issue??

Ok so I have a bit of a steering issue I have noticed over the last few times I have driven the car.

When I start it up and initially pull away, off the drive or put of a parking space, the steering feels 'notchy' and doesn't turn smoothly. Today whilst doing this I could also hear a squeal, like a belt type squeal and after 30 seconds or so the steering lightened up and became smooth and the squeal died down.

Any ideas as to what this might be or what maybe worth checking?? It's an '03 STi if that makes any difference??

Si

Maybe the pump is on its way out? Also check your fluid level

I think I would look for a known working one from here, see if Scott @Scoobyspares has some as he is a trusted seller on here. I don't think they are too difficult to fit but then I haven't had to but I'm sure they'll be someone else along soon that has.
