Default exhaust blown apart at downpipe.

my exhaust has sheered the bolts clean apart at the join between the centre section and down pipe. does anyone know what could have caused this?

Rust, corrosion, poor quality parts, poor fitment. Whole range of possibilities...

Did you hit the exhaust at all when reversing?

So have the bolts actually snapped? Very unusual if so. Or have they come loose and fallen out?

I assume we're talking about the ones with springs on? My guess is they were over tightened. Or you have some serious engine movement and need to be looking at the top stabiliser bushes
