Had 2 classics and they both did it but not heard it in the newage I've got now. Always assumed it was water through the heater matrix tbh

I get it in mine and put it down to the heater matrix.

Do you have any signs of condensation in the car? (Chekc carpets etc under the matts)

Otherwise fear not matey.

You can burp your water system and relieve the noise a little. Remove reservoir cap (careful if its hot) with the engine running and burp the top and bottom, it can force a little more water round and clear the air pockets.

Hmm
There's no sign of condensation folks.
How do I burp the system just let my car idle with the cap off?

brim the header tank and squeeze the top rad hose a bit too.
That got rid of the noise in mine.

Do the bottom pipe just as a matter of course too while the cap is off.

My 05 Sti used to make the same noise and I followed the "burping" method. I believe that I put my heater on at high temp with low fan running and along with squeezing the top rad hose, it got rid of the air in my system. This has now removed the whooshing water noise.
