Hi all, the other day i was driving home in my 97 turbo 2000 catalunya and i was in 3rd gear when there was a loss of power like fuel starvation? i pulled over and the car cut out but then started again and i limped it back home. The next day i removed the cone filter and put the standard airbox back on with a new airfilter in hopeing it would fix the problem. I took the car for a spin today and all seemed great but then the car died again with the same problem. Do you think there is a simple solution to this like a new fuel filter ect. Not sure where to start looking and i dont want to spend a fortune fixing it as the car is going up for sale soon :O(

well its a fueling issue so i would start from there, could be fuel filter / fuel pump / fuel lines etc

is there an EML on??

I will go and get a new fuel filter and check the fuel lines for leakes or a blockage. Sory if i sound dumb but what's a EML? The car was sitting on the drive for around 4 months and when i fired it up the car was showing empty and then it cut out so it might have blocked the fuel filter? The engine sounds fine on tickover and when you rev the engine it sounds sweet. The reason i took the cone filter of is that when it rained hard the filter would get wet. I am not that great at fixing cars but i am hopeing this is an easy fix.

EML = engine managment light or check emgine light

start with the fuel filter and maybe a good fuel flush treatent and see how it goes from there

Quick update, I fitted a new fuel filter and used some flush treatment but i still have the same problem. The fuel pump is working ok but when i am turning the key on and of sometimes the pump will not prime? is this normal? I will be testing the fuel pump relay today to see if thats the problem.

this turned out to be the maff sensor :O) problem solved
