Default VF 34 Inherent Problems if any

Hi all, I have one of the above turbos on a STI V3, not as sharp as it used to be, have checked the boost solenoid and appears ok so I'm thinking it could be turbo related. Do these turbos suffer any issues ie fins etc falling off. I haven't looked at these as it is a swine to get the inlet pipe off.

Thanks for any suggestions.

No problems as far as I was aware. Mine is second hand, swapped for a TD04L and still running strong.

Is the vf34 a weaker turbo than its bigger brother the vf35?
Reason i ask ,is i am looking to get a 34 in the next month or so and always thought they were quite strong turbos

I had the choice between the 2 when modding mine. The reason I went with the 34 was quicker spool and better low end. The 35 seemed to be better at the top end which I wasn't so worried about, wanted better acceleration than top end. I've not heard a bad thing about them to be honest and I did do a fair bit of digging when looking for a turbo to fit my needs and budget.

Vf34 are great turbos, people choose them over 35s.
35 does spool quicker but then go flat on top end as the 34 just keeps pulling although they are very simlar apart from the bb on 34.

So basicly you have no idea.

They are the same turbo, but the 34 is a ball bearing turbo, the VF range is considered to be weaker than the TD range, and does not like anti-lag, they spool fast and pull hard all the way to the red line, considered by many to be the best 300/350bhp turbo there is.
