Default exhaust wrap for manifold

hi guys is there any benefit of doing this or is this just another fad of wasting money?

I read somewhere that it keeps the manifold at a more consistent temperature which will aid gas flow and or combustion or something like that? I can't remember exactly.

It will also help to protect anything that is too close from the heat of course!

many thanks :-)
I'm pretty sure my heat shields are a little corroded and causing excess noise so might give it some thought when I look at it

Keeps the engine temps down. It all helps.
